Until its shallow posturing gets to be just too much, Maybe You ve Been Brainwashed Too is fodder for a decent game of Spot the Influence. Singer/songwriter Gregg Alexander s admittedly well-crafted project is indebted to the vaguely funky pop-rock of World Party. But despite airplay for the single You Get What You Give, he isn t tuneful enough to make his empty social pronouncements stick as more than fleeting entertainment, and when he starts dissing his hooky betters Courtney Love and Beck as fakes, there s little to do but laugh. At him, not with him. --Rickey Wright

COULDN T BE MORE ACTUAL, COULD IT?? - The New Radicals You Only Get What You Give lyrics, something to listen and understand today. Amazing song...

Love it! Great memories! - I just love this CD! Of course, as with almost all CDs, there are a few songs I don t care for too much but the others make it very worth the while. I will always have this CD in my collection! Highly recommended! A+++++!

Listen Deeper Than The Singles - So many people are content to be superficial about this album, and listen to You Get What You Give and Someday We ll Know , as well as the Scrubs-featured Mother We Just Can t Get Enough . But there is quite a bit more... I Hope I Didn t Just Give Away The Ending and Maybe You ve Been Brainwashed Too are the two excellent album cuts here. There is much more, but these ones stand out. The title track is just incredible, and I enjoy putting it on mixes without a title, and then getting people going What the hell is this? Its frickin incredible. And then I reveal the great secret that this is by a #1 charting band that broke up in 1999... Oh its just sublime.

Reminiscence of a great time in life. - This is one of those CDs that, when you pop it in, will instantly make you zone out, and recall your earlier days. Well, it does for me at least. 90 s rock is, and probably forever will be, my favorite brand of music. Though this has a different feel than most of the music for that time. It is definitely one of my favorite bands from the era. Every song is crafted with such flow, emotion, and all over soul, that it sucks you right in. It may take a few listens to get into a few of the songs. But, once you get acquainted with them, you won t be able to pull away. I originally bought this CD about 10 years ago, when You Get What You Give was a new single, and I ve just about killed the CD from listening to it so many times since then. I m in the process of purchasing a less skipping replacement right now.

What A Surprise ! - I m a record/CD collector from way back. As some other reviewers previously mentioned, many times you may get a CD because you heard one song you liked in a movie or something. This is definitely the case here, but the entire album smacked me down. Why didn t this guy make it?Being a musician who spent many years in L.A. myself, I realize that being good at what you do means...nothing. However, again, this CD was the surprise of the year for me.Amazon.com had one listed for $[...], so I got it. I laughed, because the shipping was far more than the actual CD. When I put it on and played it, though, I was delighted. This CD demonstrates in a nut shell how messed-up the music business is today. This CD is as good or better than anything I ve heard in a long time, and I bought it for fifty cents. LOL. Today s music audience is so diversified and so bombarded with new releases, that it s a wonder anyone becomes famous anymore. It makes me long for the days when Rock was the big thing, and you pretty much knew what to expect. In any case, what a shame for the artist, but what a great deal for me!
