Great follow-up single! Alternate Mixes! - I bought this single a few weeks ago in the cut-out bins and what a find it was! I loved the album when it came out a few years ago - but I wondered what happened to them. Apparantly Gregg Alexander hated doing promotion and decided to focus solely on songwriting in the middle of promoting this single! Get this for the alternate single versions of Someday We ll Know and Technicolor Lover and the cool b-side!
Great lyrics over infectious grooves - The band that restored my faith in the radio. I grew up with the bands that could really write songs, from the Beatles, to the Pixies, to Elvis Costello, and Roxy Music. Whether you like any of these, or even if you don t, you ll love this album. From bluesy, slow songs, to speeding ticket inducing adrenaline rushes, to love songs that are not trite, this album has them all. How good is it? A few years ago, I would buy dozens of CD s every month. The sad state of popular music today had reduced that number to one or two a month, and even those tended to be replacements for worn out vinyl rather than anything new. And then I heard this band. Good lyrics, that make you laugh, and even think (i.e. Did the captain of the Titanic cry- Someday we ll know ) over some of the best hooks that have come out of a rock band in a long time. If Oasis was as good as think they are, they would sound like this. Or if the Rolling Stones from the early 70 s were coming out in the 90 s (especially I hope I didn t just give away the ending). The above are not really comparisons of how they sound. New Radicals have a unique sound, that is a real oasis from the desertful of junk that is being played on the radio today. Enjoy.
one of the best songs ever - This song has everything I ve ever looked for in a song. The singer s obsession, vulnerability, and tenderness are all expressed by his voice and the words. Especially the two times he crecendos into the word tonight as the song kicks into it s powerful, whimsical chorus. I bought the whole CD and it has served as a great soundtrack for the summer of 99.
